Top Fitness Workout: Home Equipment You Need

Over the years I’ve accumulated a lot of exercise equipment for working out at home although I’ve always belonged to a gym [with a very low monthly payment] just for a change of pace.

The Top Fitness Workout can be easily done at home with the proper equipment, or simple substitutions.  Fortunately, when I took on doing this program, I already had everything I needed to do 95% of the exercises.  Here’s a list of what I already had:

  • Free weights–3, 5, 8 and 10 pounds
  • Jane Fonda stepper–good for doing DB Step Ups, not as high as a bench
  • A Balance Ball
  • Ab rollout wheel
  • Gyrotonics equipment–the bench is good for DB Chest presses and DB rows
  • A massage table–for those times I don’t want to get down on the floor!  It’s also good for stretching–very important
  • A rebounder with hand-rail–good for interval training

Interestingly, now that I’ve been doing the top fitness workout for about 7 weeks,  I find my free weights are too light although at one time they were challenging!  I’m in the market for some 12# and 15# weights which I’m very excited about!  That may not sound like a lot of weight to many people, but my body is 67 years old and does not have lots of testosterone circulating, or very much of any other hormones, I might add!  It’s thrilling that I can progress with heavier weights. It’s evidence that The Top Fitness workout really works.  My goal is to continue to need to increase the dumb-bell weight as time goes by.

When I go to the gym I experiment with using heavier weights to see which ones are the most challenging without being impossible!  Another reason I like to go to the gym is to use the treadmill for intervals, instead of my rebounder, which can be a little hard on my knees!  And, I just like to change up the routine which keeps everything fresh.  Besides which, they play great music that keeps one moving!

Challenges in Top Fitness Workout

Any fitness workout will present challenges, especially to an over-60, arthritic fibromyalgia sufferer!  Even from the beginning, when the workout was easier, I had to be resourceful and find ways to do the work, even when having discomfort.

Constant sharp pain in base of my thumb joints at the wrist makes doing pushups a tall order.  But, a couple of ibuprofen taken an hour or so before workout helps a lot, and so does substituting an easier pushup, such as wall pushups instead of floor pushups!

Speaking of the floor–just getting up and down from the floor is its own fitness workout!  Strong legs are required for this and I’m not there yet–so a chair or some support is still required to rise. And of course bad knees add to the challenge! But, whatever it takes, I’m going to do it.

A chronically irritated right shoulder adds another fitness workout challenge.  Pushups and planks cause even more irritation, so substitutions become necessary–kneeling or wall pushups and kneeling side planks take some of the pressure off shoulders.  When I’m stronger, I am convinced that these will be easier and less aggravating.  The out-of-shape, over-60 folks can’t expect to do what a 20-something or 30-something can do, at least not right away!

There are lots of excuses one can find to shirk the fitness workout, but one must just find ways around all the challenges and JUST  DO  IT! The goal is building muscle and losing fat, neither of which will happen without doing the Top Fitness Workout.

I was very inspired by the story of Guttorm, a participant in the Transformation Contest sponsored by my Top Fitness Workout.  Compared to what he’s overcome, I have no problems at all.  To be inspired yourself, you can read his story at:

Progress: Week Three of my Top Fitness Workout

Today began week three of my Top Fitness Workout.  The first two weeks were done at the Introductory level–for people like me who are somewhat sedentary, over 30 [well, over 60], and slightly overweight with aches and pains!  The intro level requires only two workouts per week with a low number of repetitions of the body-weight exercises called super-sets. This allows the body more time to recover before working out again.  It was very satisfying to actually be able to DO the exercises with all reps and all circuits.  Although I haven’t lost any weight I’m definitely feeling stronger.  And, stronger is the name of the game–stronger is the WHOLE game!

One of my main reasons for embarking on this Top Fitness Workout journey is to Build Muscle and Lose Fat.   Building muscle is the key to losing weight, more specifically, it’s the key to losing FAT.  Each pound of muscle burns 50 calories a day; each pound of body fat only burns 2 calories per day!!  More muscle means a faster metabolism and revved up weight loss.  More muscle” has become my mantra, my internal battle cry.

Not only does more muscle burn more calories but it strengthens the body, especially for baby-boomers and seniors who have been losing muscle mass since they were 30, and helps us prevent damage to our bodies that can happen from falls and other mishaps. Imagine that you were walking along the sidewalk in your favorite part of town and “tripped” over an uneven place underfoot.  Having a strong back and  strong shoulders and arms can help prevent broken bones because our arms, shoulders and back were strong enough to break the fall.

I can hardly wait to see what happens to my body as I progress into four weeks of the next level, the Beginner Level!  It’s much more demanding than the Intro level, but I’m ready for it!

Top Fitness Workout to Stay Youthful

In a recent interview with Dara Torres, the 2008, over 40, Olympic Gold Medalist, Holly St. Lifer of AOL’s That’s Fit column, asked her, “What’s the single most essential aspect of your life that you feel keeps you youthful?”

Torres’ reply?  “Fitness…Exercise not only makes you feel younger, it relieves stress, and [makes you] automatically look better.  It’s a win-win”

Torres is an inspiration and the Top Fitness Workout can help you achieve a more fit body than ever, in a lot less time than other popular workouts.  Although Dara Torres has her own personal workout plan, you can work on being as fit and youthful as she is by finding out for yourself how to get fit, fast.

Progress: Day 4–Top Fitness Workout

Today is the fourth day since beginning my new top fitness workout.  It’s a good thing that the beginning workouts have two days between them!  The first day’s workout left me with my usual Post Exercise Pain–it usually takes 24 hours for that to show up.  But now the pain (especially inner thighs!) has subsided and  I’m ready for the second day of workouts.  Of course, there’s light exercise on the off days—fun things or walking for 30 minutes.

It’s very focusing to actually have a plan for this and the Fitness guru has a great system of daily email messages to keep us on track. It’s exciting to know that this is a Fitness Plan that is going to work for me; I’m committed to making steady progress toward transformation.

Top Fitness Workout Finally Revealed

For the last few years I’ve researched, on-line, a lot of fitness workouts.  There are a lot of good, knowledgeable trainers out there with fitness workouts for body builders, both male and female; or fitness workouts for the average person, the student, the athlete, and more.  But after a while the different health and fitness philosophies and methods started to get confusing—overwhelming, actually, so I really ended up with no philosophy and no workable plan for my Top Fitness Workout.

While doing some intervals on the treadmill at my gym a couple of weeks ago, I set my iPod nano to play back a recorded teleseminar by one the top fitness workout gurus and it was like being struck by a lightning bolt!!  As I listened to the good advice on my nano, I looked around the gym at all the other women doing their workouts and thought–oh boy, they’re doing this all wrong!  And then I knew that, at last, the top fitness workout and its creator had been revealed to me.  Now I’ve started using the Top Fitness Workout and it’s going to be transformative!
