Challenges in Top Fitness Workout
Posted Under: Uncategorized
Any fitness workout will present challenges, especially to an over-60, arthritic fibromyalgia sufferer! Even from the beginning, when the workout was easier, I had to be resourceful and find ways to do the work, even when having discomfort.
Constant sharp pain in base of my thumb joints at the wrist makes doing pushups a tall order. But, a couple of ibuprofen taken an hour or so before workout helps a lot, and so does substituting an easier pushup, such as wall pushups instead of floor pushups!
Speaking of the floor–just getting up and down from the floor is its own fitness workout! Strong legs are required for this and I’m not there yet–so a chair or some support is still required to rise. And of course bad knees add to the challenge! But, whatever it takes, I’m going to do it.
A chronically irritated right shoulder adds another fitness workout challenge. Pushups and planks cause even more irritation, so substitutions become necessary–kneeling or wall pushups and kneeling side planks take some of the pressure off shoulders. When I’m stronger, I am convinced that these will be easier and less aggravating. The out-of-shape, over-60 folks can’t expect to do what a 20-something or 30-something can do, at least not right away!
There are lots of excuses one can find to shirk the fitness workout, but one must just find ways around all the challenges and JUST DO IT! The goal is building muscle and losing fat, neither of which will happen without doing the Top Fitness Workout.
I was very inspired by the story of Guttorm, a participant in the Transformation Contest sponsored by my Top Fitness Workout. Compared to what he’s overcome, I have no problems at all. To be inspired yourself, you can read his story at:
